Talk on Risk Management in Projects in XIME ..

It was good listening to Mr Suryaprakash, Vice President Info Systems and Narendra, Delivery Manager and Head Risk management, Infosys talking to second year students of PGDM in XIME on Risk management on 31 August 2009. Hearing it right from the horse's mouth as to the importance Infy assigns to Risk management from the bidding stage to the handing over stage of the project, was very eye opening for the students. It gaye an idea of how Infosys works.

Developing a risk culture within the organisation with no penalties for failing in high risk projects was the best way Infy tackled risk in the organisation. Learning from earlier projects and identifying new risk areas was the mantra to be successful in projects.

Compared to the Industry standard where only 33 % of projects are successful having met requirements of time and within costs, the Infy experience of a success rate of 95 % plus is a reflection of their customer focus and the commitment to deliver on time...

Great talk ...

Branding guru Bijou Kurien in XIME, 29 Aug, 2009.

It was really great listening to an exciting talk from Mr. Bijou Kurien, President and Chief Executive of Reliance Retail in XIME today at 3.30 PM. An alumni of XLRI, Jamshedpur, Bijou after passing from XLRI in 1981 worked as Product Manager in Hindustan Unilever before joining Titan Industries, He worked in Titan for 18 long years branding Titan as a house hold name and quit Titan as its COO to join Reliance Retail in 2007.

His talk on branding was a classy one .. something incomparable. Super compering by Akhil and Akshay's final parting words were great ..

An interesting article on netas and security frisking ..

The parasites of the society, the politicians need to be told that they are the leaders of the people not demigods .. The pressure they bring on the normal law abiding citizens who are magnanimous enough to relax rules and provide security to these rascals are being taken for a ride by these same people.

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/opinion/edit-page/Comment-Citizens-All/articleshow/4903143.cms  It is good that TOI has given the Khan frisking episode in US less importance. If these film stars and politicians pay their taxes, they will feel the pinch of wasteful extravaganza

The netas in our country with the sportspersons and filmstars are making a fool of themselves by shouting like crybabies when normal routines carried out on any individual is done on them at airpots. Flanking around with gun toting security guards, at the expense of the tax paying citizens of the country, these parasites get immense satisfaction blocking traffic and causing inconvenience to the public in public places. It is high time, the government reduced the security being given to such parasites. If they are killed by their enemies, it is only good for the country and law will take its course , like it does for the common citizens.

Visit to Taegu Tech, Bommasandra

I never thought I would get such an opportunity in life..

With the American students and faculty from Uty of Akron and Uty of Redlands, Calif, when I visited the cutting tools manufacturing company Taegu Tech in Bommasandra, Bangalore on the hosur Road, little did I realise that this visit was very important.

Even though I had learnt during my engg college days that machine tool life can be increased (decreasing cutting costs) by using inserts, this was the first time I was getting to see all this in real life. Visiting the shop floor of TaeguTech in Bommasandra was very interesting.

The cleanliness of the place was mind boggling. When the team lead of the marketing dept was saying in his presentation that this was one of the best machine tool manufacturing shop floors in the world, little did i believe it, till I saw the shop floor.

With the latest CNC controlled machines, robots and complicated flexible manufacturing systems,  the experience was beyond belief.

The American faculty who came along with us could not believe their eyes and stared in disbelief at the machines and the neatly and organised shop floor of Tagu tech in Bangalore. Started as a subsidiary of Daegu tech in South Korea in 2001 in Bommasandra it has a financial turnover of about 160 crores, but has already captured 65 % of the Indian machine tool market.

Mehsud's illegal 25 million pounds fortune ..

Mehsud's 25 milllion pounds fortune, which he illegally amassed by violence, drug trade and funding from Arab war lords which led to his gaining power, fame and finally death. The question over the inheritance of this fortune will lead to the tearing up of the Taliban ... Good news for the world..

In nature there are no rewards and punishments, only consequences !!

And man never learns .. He thinks he is "too smart",  till he falls to bullets or is dismembered .. How trivial !!  He is too silly in the Supreme Power's infinite intelligence ..
