Stimulus package

It is the month of August, on the shores of the black Sea. It is raining, and the little town looks totally deserted. It is tough times, everybody is in debt, and everybody lives on credit.

Suddenly, a rich tourist comes to town.

He enters the only hotel, lays a 100 Euro note on the reception counter, and goes to inspect the rooms upstairs in order to pick one.

The hotel proprietor takes the 100 Euro note and runs to pay his debt to the butcher.

The Butcher takes the 100 Euro note, and runs to pay his debt to the pig grower.

The pig grower takes the 100 Euro note, and runs to pay his debt to the supplier of his feed and fuel.

The supplier of feed and fuel takes the 100 Euro note and runs to pay his debt to the town's prostitute that in these hard times, gave her 'services' on credit.

The hooker runs to the hotel, and pays off her debt with the 100 Euro note to the hotel proprietor to pay for the rooms that she rented when she brought her clients there.

The hotel proprietor then lays the 100 Euro note back on the counter so that the rich tourist will not suspect anything.

At that moment, the rich tourist comes down after inspecting the rooms, and takes his 100 Euro note, after saying that he did not like any of the rooms, and leaves town.

No one earned anything. However, the whole town is now without debt, and looks to the future with a lot of optimism.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how the United States Government is doing business today. Taking from one, giving to the other and getting it back finally with the Govt.

What is good for GM is good for America ...

These were the words of the GM CEO , Charlie Wilson 1955..

Someone rephrased itin 2009 like this, what is true for GM is true for America ... We have started seeing this ...World Bank is banking on the economic activity in India and China to salvage world growth ..

Mahindra, Nano, Jaguar and other Indian brands are invading US .. Airbus released its first China made plane yday. Very soon we will see Boeing being overtaken by Indian companies..

An average Pakistan citizen is indebted to a tune of $ 350 . ie. the Govt has to pay back so much of loans.. As early as 2015, each US citizen will be indebted by $ 50,000, if the present economic revival and controlled bankruptcy plans are taken to fruition.. If the Americans use at least a fraction of the common sense, forget intelligence (!, sorry, I do not know..), they will start living sensibly than be wiped out from the surface of the Earth or overrun ....

Prez Obama was too quick to remind the Iranian Govt not to crush the people's right to protest..  Probably, he does not recollect the existence of China.. Sorry , he dare not recollect ..

Karat's double role ...

Prakash Karat, the General Secretary of CPM in India, is a man being questioned for his idiotic demeanour and double standards these days.. Maybe he has failed to see that the common man has become more sensible and can distinguish conmanship from sincerity..

Ban VHP and engage Maoists .. Both VHP and Maoists are terrorist organisations. In the former it is terrorists of the communal kind and Maoists are terrorists of the guerrilla variety. Is there any difference between the two ..

The above statement has exposed the double standards of Karat and his dying political grouping of insane and dead ideology..

The Left Front which has taken the decision is not ruling WB. It is a just a group of jokers who meet frequently in Kolkata and at other places to discuss strategies to perpetuate the Left rule in WB. The rise of Mamata Banerjee is a real threat to their goonda rule of WB, which they know..

Not having even an iota of influence in Delhi to influence political thinking is a great weakness for the Left this time..

How will they bulldoze their way through this time ??

Inclusive Hindutva, what does that mean ??

It has become more of a fashion in India these days to add the word Inclusive to anything to make it more acceptable and noticed. The word Inclusive growth stated it all, meaning the growth of not only the rich and influential in society, but also the poor and marginalised in the society. A totally Indian origin concept, it gives lot more depth and understanding than armchair theorising, to the concept of growth and development. Especially in India where the divide betwen the rich and poor was getting bigger and wider after each passing day. It became a key word which got noticed not only in India, but among the other nations of the world.

http://blogs.expressindia.com/showblogdetails.php?contentid=352065

Even Infosys' Murthy wants the budget to focus on Inclusive growth.

Perhaps that may be the reason why BJP has thought of prefixing that word with its Hindutva phrase, obviously with political ambitions.. Hindutva not only for the upper caste, but also for the less privileged and downtrodden in the society.. A group which it has not been focusing on earlier.  A very neat and expert maneouvre by whoever in BJP, to aim for larger vote share, in the next elections, after it found the Ram temple not giving as much dividends ..  a case of decreasing marginal returns...

BJP having realised that it needs to find means and ways to hoodwink the electorate yet again, is looking for ideas like this to revive its lost glory !! Can someone help ??

How the elections were won ?

An interesting article on the reasons behind the recent electoral victory at the national level. Worth a read ...

Praful Bidwai writes in Times of Inda that it is not GDPism and measures favouring the rich which won Congress resounding victory in this election, but concern for the poor and needy in society through the National Rural Employment guarantee Scheme (NREGA), the massive loan waivers, Right to Information Act and other progressive legislation.

QUOTE : We need public action based on a redistributive agenda. This means breaking with GDP-ism and inverting conventional wisdom that sees poverty alleviation, employment generation and social welfare as derivatives of growth, arbitrarily defined as 8 or 10 per cent. Instead, we must derive the growth target from the objectives of maximising employment, welfare and human development, including food security and guaranteed access to safe drinking water, health care, shelter and education.  UNQUOTE

article on cancer from Johns Hopkins ..

Excellent article on cancer. .

AFTER YEARS OF TELLING PEOPLE CHEMOTHERAPY IS THE ONLY WAY TO TRY AND
ELIMINATE CANCER, JOHNS HOPKINS IS FINALLY STARTING TO TELL YOU THERE
IS AN ALTERNATIVE WAY .

Cancer Update from Johns Hopkins
:

1. Every person has cancer cells in the body. These cancer cells do not show up in the standard tests until they have multiplied to a few
billion. When doctors tell cancer patients that there are no more cancer cells in their bodies after treatment, it just means the tests are
unable to detect the cancer cells because they have not reached the detectable size.

2. Cancer cells occur between 6 to more than 10 times in a person's lifetime.

3. When the person's immune system is strong the cancer cells will be destroyed and prevented from multiplying and forming tumours.

4. When a person has cancer it indicates the person has multiple nutritional deficiencies. These could be due to genetic, environmental,
food and lifestyle factors.

5. To overcome the multiple nutritional deficiencies, changing diet and including supplements will strengthen the immune system.

6. Chemotherapy involves poisoning the rapidly-growing cancer cells and also destroys rapidly-growing healthy cells in the bone marrow,
gastro-intestinal tract etc, and can cause organ damage, like liver, kidneys, heart, lungs etc.

7. Radiation while destroying cancer cells also burns, scars and damages healthy cells, tissues and organs.

8. Initial treatment with chemotherapy and radiation will often reduce tumor size. However prolonged use of chemotherapy and radiation do not
result in more tumor destruction.

9. When the body has too much toxic burden from chemotherapy and radiation the immune system is either compromised or destroyed, hence
the person can succumb to various kinds of infections and complications.

10. Chemotherapy and radiation can cause cancer cells to mutate and become resistant and difficult to destroy. Surgery can also cause cancer
cells to spread to other sites.

11. An effective way to battle cancer is to starve the cancer cells by not feeding it with the foods it needs to multiply.

WHAT CANCER CELLS FEED ON:

a. Sugar is a cancer-feeder. By cutting off sugar it cuts off one important food supply to the cancer cells. Sugar substitutes like
NutraSweet, Equal,Spoonful, etc are made with Aspartame and it is harmful. A better natural substitute would be Manuka honey or molasses
but only in very sma ll amounts. Table salt has a chemical added to make it white in colour. Better alternative is Bragg's aminos or sea salt.

b. Milk causes the body to produce mucus, especially in the gastro-intestinal tract. Cancer feeds on mucus. By cutting off milk and
substituting with unsweetened soy milk, cancer cells are being starved.

c. Cancer cells thrive in an acid environment. A meat-based diet is acidic and it is best to eat fish, and a little chicken rather than
beef or pork. Meat also contains livestock antibiotics, growth hormones and parasites, which are all harmful, especially to people with cancer.

d. A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice, whole grains, seeds, nuts and a little fruits help put the body into an alkaline
environment. About 20% can be from cooked food including beans. Fresh vegetable juices provide live enzymes that are easily absorbed and reach
down to cellular levels within 15 minutes to no urish and enhance growth of healthy cells. To obtain live enzymes for building healthy cells try
and drink fresh vegetable juice (most vegetables including bean sprouts) and eat some raw vegetables 2 or 3 times a day. Enzymes are destroyed at
temperatures of 104 degrees F (40 degrees C).

e. Avoid coffee, tea, and chocolate, which have high caffeine. Green tea is a better alternative and has cancer-fighting properties.
Water-best to drink purified water, or filtered, to avoid known toxins and heavy metals in tap water. Distilled water is acidic, avoid it.

12. Meat protein is difficult to digest and requires a lot of digestive enzymes. Undigested meat remaining in the intestines become putrified
and leads to more toxic buildup.

13. Cancer cell walls have a tough protein covering. By refraining from or eating less meat it frees more enzymes to attack the protein walls of
cancer cells and allows the body's killer cells to destroy the cancer cells.

14. Some supplements build up the immune system (IP6, Flor-ssence, Essiac, anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals, EFAs etc.) to enable the
body's own killer cells to destroy cancer cells. Other supplements like vitamin E are known to cause apoptosis, or programmed cell death, the
body's normal method of disposing of damaged, unwanted, or unneeded cells.

15. Cancer is a disease of the mind, body, and spirit. A proactive and positive spirit will help the cancer warrior be a survivor. Anger,
unforgiveness and bitterness put the body into a stressful and acidic environment. Learn to have a loving and forgiving spirit. Learn to relax
and enjoy life.

16. Cancer cells cannot thrive in an oxygenated environment. Exercising daily, and deep breathing help to get more oxygen down to the cellular
level. Oxygen therapy is another means employed to destroy cancer cells.

GM goes down leading the rest ..

The legendary Pied Piper led all the rats of Hamelin to the river and drowned them .. Is Obama likewise leading the drowning drive of American companies starting with GM ?? Hope not !

GM filing for bankruptcy is a big news, but equally sad... Nobody ever thought that this symbol of American capitalism would collapse like a pack of cards .. With Chrysler down some time back, it is a matter of time before the other auto giant also follows suit.. !!

Even though the major plan through this bankruptcy filing under Chapter 11 is to restructure GM while protecting it from the debtors, we have to wait and see how this white elephant can ever be revived. Even if US govt pumps in another $30 billion, after the initial $14 billion already gone into it, without US economy revival, will demand for new cars be created ?

When Toyota , the world's best and largest car maker is reeling under losses, how can a refurbished and polished GM ever survive the cruel world of competition, quality and price ..? Or is it an attempt to protect American ego, like "putting stones in the ocean", is it $ 30 billion wasted and illspent ?

Though Obama would want GM to be dissolved once for ever and a new smaller, efficient, agile entity created in its place, the average American would never want it. Like Perestroika crushed and dissolved the former USSR, will capitalism with its own contradictions, crush and destroy the US. Wishful thinking is that such a thing would not happen.. But the evidence of reduced influence of US in world affairs is very much evident with new players like India and China entering centrestage ..

The interesting fact is that while the parent companies are under terrible pressure to perform and unable to create customer interest, the Indian entities of Toyota, GM and Ford are doing well. This is not only in India , in China too..

During these times of recession, it gives an impression that the IMF and World Bank were intentionally siding in all its predictions and forecasts with the Western countries who created them. It is a question of survival of these Bretton Woods sisters.. These international financial organisations owe it more to the Western countries, who fund them, than to the principles of Economics. Quite contrary to their expectations and contorted predictions, Indian economy is doing exceptionally well.

India has recently upgraded its GDP growth during the last quarter to 6.7 %, which is very healthy considering the global gloom and manufacturing downturn. We are once again a trillion dollar economy, with the GDP crossing a trillion dollars..

It appears India will be given the onerous task of leading the world ( or hand hold it ), showing that not only can democracy help a country grow, it can help it gain respect in the comity of nations too..

The resilience of the Indian economy to weather any downturn is turning out to be exceptional.
