An impressive painting of St Thomas

This painting of Jesus with his disciple Thomas has always impressed me as it depicts  the curiosity of Thomas to know whether the Jesus he is seeing is the same Jesus who was crucified and had resurrected. Even though the Bible talks of Thomas having asked Jesus to show him his palms so that he could put  his finger through and get convinced, this paintings goe s astep furthr and shows Thomas examining Jesus in his chest and putting his fingers through the hole created by the spear which was used by the soldiers to make sure that Jesus was dead on the cross.

The imagination of the painter (anonymous..) is creative ..
