Finding the large Linux users of the world ..
In my constant interactions with the students and my faculty colleagues at Alliance School of Business, I happened to create awareness about Linux OS in them.
I did some research to find out the big Linux users across the globe.- NASA, ISRO and SpaceX use Linux.
- About 80% of global mobile phones work on Android, a Linux derivative.
- The US Dept of Defense, US Navy, National Science Academy (NSA), FBI, CIA, Federal Aviation Administration use Linux majorly in their applications.
- The world's four largest tech companies Amazon, Facebook, Google and Microsoft Azure use Linux. Apple has it's own iOS.
- Other small tech companies IBM, Oracle, Samsung work on Linux.
- Auto majors Toyota, Tesla, Volvo, BMW use Automotive Grade Linux (AGL) for their infotainment and engine guidance systems.
- 97of the top 500 Super Computers of the world run on Linux OS, the other 3 percent run on Unix.
- The Google Chrome OS is a Linux derivative.
We can use Windows for small desktop and laptop applications, in fact 75% of them do use Windows. It is only a matter of time before laptops and desktops completely migrate to Linux platforms given the massive tech., speed and memory upgrades they are having.
