Business Process Reengineering.. way forward?

Business Process Re-engineering is a much talked about term these days. Ever since Micheal Hammer came up with the initial thought processes in this direction in the early eighties, we have seen a generational shift in processes transforming to centralised computing on Main Frame computers and Minis, then to desktop based distributed computing and now to the Internet mediated cloud computing, which is taking us back to the days of centralised computing
Business process re-engineering is a business management strategy, originally pioneered in the early 1990s, focusing on the analysis and design of workflows and business processes within an organization. Wikipedia
Do you think it is a panacea to remove all business process inefficiencies?

As IT currently, radically helps redesign business processes bringing value and efficiency, do you think in the future Artificial Intelligence will further streamline processes and help realise greater customer value with improved process efficiencies?

*We live in a much deprived world, it is a sin to be inefficient* - Micheal Hammer
