Was reading (late) C K Prahlad's article "Serving the world's poor profitably" which appeared as a case in HBR of Sept. 2002 was an interesting read.

Giving good quality , in large numbers and at an affordable price to the approximately 4 billion poor of he world who subsist on under $ 2000 a year is the crux of the article. Was the base paper on which his famous book "Fortune at the bottom of the pyramid" was written.
