Gururaj Deshpande and MIT Deshpande Center, can we have one in India ?? ..

A great intro to Dr Gururaj Deshpande from his alma mater, Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai  http://chennai36.iitm.ac.in/an-introduction-to-dr-gururaj-deshpande/

A brief note on what is being done at MIT Gururaj Deshpande Centre for Innovation  http://chennai36.iitm.ac.in/innovation-for-the-real-world/

Dr. Gururaj Deshpande, one of India's modern technocrat leaders, already
very active on the global scene, but yet to be recognised and tapped by India.
Sir, why not start a similar Centre for Innovation at IIT Chennai
or IIT Bombay ? The country will forever be indebted !
After reading about the limited and exciting progress made by the different initiatives at the  Gururaj Deshpande Centre for Innovation at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) (click here for MIT Deshpande Centre) and the great potential it has for the future, it is surprising why Indian academic Institutions are not interested in pursuing this great idea from an Indian to help other Universities of the world.

Especially since any intervention in the area of technological innovation can take years to mature, it is high time the same revolutionary thinking of starting an Innovation Centre be applied to our technical institutions, on the model of Deshpande Centre for Innovation at MIT, to foster innovation in the brilliant Indian minds which otherwise would get stolen to US, withered away or lost for eternity !
Let us capture great ideas that can transform humanity and the Universe for the better, here in India itself and not waste opportunities here in India. The West should also contribute for humanity. We do not mind spilloffs being taken by other countries, but original thinking if it happens in India, needs to be nurtured and cultured here in India.

Why give others the pain of having to nurture original Indian ideas and thoughts in their Universities and Institutes ?
