Nehru trophy boat race .. T M Varghese and Jiji Thomson ..

Nehru Trophy boat race, on Punnamada kayal,  was started by kerala's first Home Minister TM Varghese in 1952.

It is indeed great to note that his grand nephew, then Alleppey sub-collector and present Chief Secretary Jiji Thomson revived it in '82-'83 and took it to international fame.
