Snaps of Alleppey, more than 100 years old ..

These are snaps of Alleppey taken more than 100 years ago, around 1900 AD of Alleppey. The first one is of Stone bridge, kallupaalam and the second somewhere near to the present shavakotta paalam (cemetry bridge) Photographer was Dcruz Zachariah, Govt photographer, ( taken from the blog pazhayathu.blogspot.in)

Alleppey was started aa a port town around 1780 AD by Raja Kesava Das. By 1900 it was called the Venice of Rthe East with flourishing trade with all parts of coastal India, China, Malay peninsula and Arabia.
