Why can't we classify the Western countries as Near West - Germany, Switzerland etc, Mid-West - France,Spain, Italy and others, West - UK, Scotland, Nordic countries and Far-West - US, Canada etc ..
The South American countries, Mexico , Gautemala, Panama etc will be the extended west ..
This classification makes sense as the classification will now be truly based on geographic location than the economic status ... But if the real intention is to segregate developed and less developed or developing countries, we should instead use the words developed and less developed or developing etc..
