Xi Jinping consolidating power in China ..

The most powerful couple in China,
Xi JinPing and his second wife, Peng Liyuan .
Xi JinPing in the last two days acquired another title in China, Commander-in-Chief of the Joint Operations Command Centre. Wow !!

This is besides his earlier positions like

1. General Secretary of the Communist Party of China
2. President of the People's Republic of China and
3. Chairman of the Central Military Commission of China

Another bone of contention between China
and its South China neighbours, Spratley Is..
A dangerous trend which has been reported by all major international magazines like the Economist. Is this true indication of Xi JinPing's thirst for power (out of a fear of being overthrown ?) consolidating his command over China, a mistake committed by Mao Tse Dong and for which he dearly paid the price.

They say power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Ever since the Communist party came to power in China in 1949 and from 2012, when Xi JinPing took over as General Secretary of the Communist Party of China, he had been an ardent believer of transparency and earnestly hoped to remove corruption in official circles then.

But of late, we find the thinking has changed. The biggest medical scandal to rock China in recent years, the sale of outdated vaccines to government run centres and hospitals and in turn to patients, has irked the people much. But Xi continues his stranglehold to control Chinese society like nobody has done since Mao Ze Dong.

Xi Mingze, Xi JinPing-Peng couple's only daughter
Xi JinPing's war on dissent has now more teeth than the war on graft. His attempts to annex the disputed Spratley Islands in South China Sea has made the countries around the area gravitate to US care and protection.

His family that includes daughter Xi Mingze, a student at Harvard (raises doubt on the meritocracy of Harvard too..) and second wife, folk singer Mama Peng are silent observers to Xi JinPing's stranglehold on power.

In 2012 when Xi Jin Ping took over, he sent a good image to the world of being transparent and wanting to end corruption and improve the life of the common man in China. But 4 years hence, he is showing his true colours.

Lot more remains to be seen in the coming six years till 2022 of Xi's tenure. And mostly it is indicating authoritarian tendencies !

Sadly what the Communist Party of China believes (or its leaders believe) is that growth and development can be forced through the barrel of the gun.  It's Southern neighbour, India, on the other hand, is a shining symbol of democracy and great freedom of expression and speech.

It is just a matter of time before India overtakes it's north eastern neighbour economically. Other than in 1962, at no point in history has China ever nursed territorial ambitions and flexed its muscles against India, and never it can ..

The happenings in Beijing will keep China so busy with itself, the drama has only started .. !
